scrieler on May 26, 2008 6:18 pm Hi Dmitry, One side note: The tool requires that the drive you're resetting be on its own IDE channel. I had a seagate 250g hard drive on an older computer which required a DDO to recognize the full 250g.

I downloaded this tool and I am getting a message when I click on the desired hard drive, that there are two devices on a single channel. For me, factory settings means getting the computer back to the state when you first bought it. Disk Management Then, access the System Recovery Option menu. The computer died and I am trying to install the hard drive on a different computer. In the menu bar along the top of the screen, click Utilities -> Terminal.

You can fix that by either fixing those file systems/partitions (for example, with chkdsk) or deleting all partitions from that hard drive.

Make sure that there is no other device attached to the same cable (like another hard drive or a CD/DVD drive). Bought a brand new Seagate Barracuda 500Gb PATA drive and after playing around with it, the drive became a 137Gb drive. Unfortunately, I do not have a list of unsupported adapters, but generally, if it does not work on one PC or adapter, just try another :)
